Welcome to the Big Health Debate
Welcome to the site for the Big Health Debate events. The Welsh Government wants you the people of Wales to have your say on what can be done to improve the health and wellbeing of the nation.
Overall, health in Wales is improving but we are still facing big health challenges. For example, the health of people who are less well off is not improving as quickly as the health of those who are better off. Linked to this are factors like poor mental well being and rising obesity levels. The evidence suggests that children and young people need a healthy start in life and that action can be taken throughout life to improve our health and well being.
In November, the Welsh Government published a Public Health Green Paper to consult on whether new laws should be introduced to improve the health of the people of Wales.
We now invite you to get involved in the Big Health Debate!
These Big Health Debate Events will provide an opportunity for you to consider whether legislation could help us to tackle some of these challenges and what else could be done to further improve overall health and well being in Wales.
Please come along to one of our evening open events taking place in February 2013 to consider and debate issues that affect our health such as smoking, drinking too much alcohol, having a poor diet and doing too little exercise and the inequality gap between the health of the rich and the poor.
